Ford’s karma nips him in the ass

 by Patrick 7 great comments. Room for one more!

Rob Ford balked noticeably at being told that he would have to pay his own court costs in the conflict of interest case, which he says he won “fair and square”.

Although he reserved his harshest, most thoughtful criticism for the proposals that Metrolinx recently put out in order to fund transit in Toronto, he nonetheless believes that he was wronged in being forced to pay his own way after “winning” the appeals to the case — one out of four appeals, or 25% of the total to be exact (after completely losing the original case).

But this is Rob Ford, after all, who believes that 25% qualifies as an overwhelming “win”, or that a 47% voting result is a “majority” during an election, etc.

Ford is probably also upset that those opposing him are working for free (assholes!), essentially leaving him the only one footing the bill for his own crimes, which the appeal judges once again reiterated were very real and very wrong, hence the loss of most of the appeals.

The funny thing is that this is exactly what Ford and his idiot supporters outright demand — it’s everyone for themselves, and cut and slash and privatize and fuck everyone in the process because money should be in the pockets of the rich, corrupt, and openly criminal. This is Ford’s raison d’etre incarnate; but, of course, because it’s being done to Rob and not by him, it’s completely wrong! That’s  the new neo-Con, money-trumps-everything, buried-in-hypocrisy-and-lies-and-corruption Canada.

Clayton Ruby offered an insightful and absolutely correct analysis of the situation: “Mayor Ford’s costs request was, once again, scuppered by Mayor Ford.” The term “karmic retribution” would also be very appropriate — now the universe just needs more  of it.

    I watch a lot of comment boards. There is the highest of dudgeon imaginable from Ford supporters outraged at Rob Ford not being awarded costs. But nowhere -NOWHERE- on any of those comment boards have I seen a single Rob Ford fan offer any financial help to their hero whatsoever. Not a nickel. They’ll back their man right up to the point where it might actually cost them a buck or two -then….you’re on your own Mr. Mayor. What a stirling bunch Ford Nation is, eh?

    In reference to your comment:

    I don’t know if you remember when RoFo got into trouble with regards to his private football charity but flocks of his supporters held a charity event to raise 3,150$ (the exact amount our impoverished Mayor was ordered to repay to his lobbyists) and the guest list included the members of the vile Toronto Taxpayers Coalition.

    The rich have a history of running to the ‘aid’ of their other rich friends and thereby excluding the entire city, some of whom may or may not would have helped out.

    The entry fee was 150$ to start with and Toronto Taxpayers Coalition members (fordites) were the only invitees!

    @Patrick,

    I don’t think your assessment that all of his supporters are sink or swim, cut throat people. They *are* however exclusivist and focused on their own self interests. That being said I believe that they look after who they consider one of their own… sometimes lol.

    Earlier this morning I sent Jerry Agar an e-mail asking if he knew of any person or persons initiating a fund raising campaign to help allay the mayor’s costs. I cited the example of the Canadian Taxpayers Federation rising to the original $3,150 challenge. Mr. Agar, who usually answers promptly (if not politely) has not yet answered. I hinted that perhaps the onus for such an initiative might lie with a media personality who would have the ear of a sympathetic public. If I hear anything, I’ll let you know.

    I look forward to reading Agar’s response — if it ever materializes.

    Mr. Agar did not reply to my e-mail. However, ‘Dan from Port Hope…’ did manage to broach the fundraising subject with Jim Richards on the Friday Showgram. I shoe-horned in about 15-seconds of Why Ford Nation Doesn’t Put Its Money Where Its Mouth Is before Richards blurted something about money for Ford’s costs being raised on Facebook -or some such. Well….darned if I can find any evidence of that noble initiative. Perhaps torontocitylife can assign its huge Research Department to finding out for ‘Dan from Port Hope…’
