Here are some technical details about the above formats:
ePUB: The ePUB 3.0 format suitable for a broad variety of e-readers and software.
PDF: PDF/Universal Accessibility (ISO14289) Portable Document Format v1.7. Although you likely already have a compatible PDF viewer installed, there’s an official version available provided by Adobe.
Kobo: A custom ePUB format (kepub) which provides a better reading experience on the device. If you own a Kobo, there’s additional information available describing how to add downloaded ebooks to it.
Amazon Kindle: This is the .mobi format for use on older Kindle devices. If you have such a device, there’s additional information on how to add ebooks to a Kindle via sideloading.
